Should I power flush in winter or summer?

It's better to power flush your central heating system in summer rather than winter. When the weather is warmer, the system is generally free and moving, making the flush more effective. Most customers wait until winter when their heating fails, but this means waiting days for service during the busy season. It's best to avoid the rush and book sooner rather than later. Also, start your system and run it up during summer - think of it like a car, if you don't start it up now and then it won't want to start at all eventually, and that will be when you need it most!

Why is my central heating not turning on?

There are several possible reasons why your central heating isn't turning on: thermostat issues, power supply problems, pilot light or ignition failure, or a malfunctioning control system. If your system has sludge buildup from years of use, this can also prevent proper heating. A professional power flush can resolve circulation issues and restore your heating system to full function.

Are you Gas Safe registered?

Yes, we are fully trained, qualified, certified and insured to work on gas appliances. Our Gas Safe registration number is 555837. We are also Kamco certified and provide BS7593 quality-assured power flushing service in Manchester and throughout the Northwest UK.

Why is my central heating not producing enough heat?

Common reasons for insufficient heat include incorrect thermostat settings, dirty or clogged filters, air in the system, or a malfunctioning heating element. Sludge and magnetite buildup in your central heating system is one of the most common causes, which can be effectively resolved with a professional power flush using our Kamco equipment.

Why is my central heating system making strange noises?

Strange noises like banging, surging, or grating sounds from your central heating system are often caused by air trapped in the system, loose components, or pump problems. These are classic signs of sludge and debris buildup in your pipes and radiators. A professional power flush can resolve these issues and restore quiet, efficient operation to your heating system.

What are the signs my central heating system needs a power flush?

Key signs your system needs a power flush include: cold or lukewarm radiators (especially cold spots at the bottom), slow heating response where radiators take a long time to warm up, pump noises like surges or grating sounds, boiler noises such as bangs and sudden surges, poor hot water that runs cold when fully open, and poor circulation where pipes get clogged with sludge and debris. If you're experiencing any of these symptoms, a professional power flush can restore your system's efficiency.

How long does a power flush take?

A typical power flush takes 6-8 hours for an average-sized property with 8-10 radiators. Larger properties or systems with significant sludge buildup may take up to 10-12 hours. We never rush the job - we stay until your heating system is working properly, the water is running clear, and all radiators are balanced correctly.

Do I need to be home during the power flush?

Yes, someone needs to be home during the power flush as we require access to your boiler, all radiators, and water supply throughout the day. We'll need to run taps, adjust radiators, and test the system. We keep you fully informed throughout the process and show you the results, including the dirty water we've removed from your system.

Will a power flush damage my central heating system?

No, when performed correctly by trained professionals using proper equipment, a power flush will not damage your system. We use Kamco professional power flushing machines designed specifically for safe power flushing of central heating systems. The process actually extends the life of your system by removing corrosive sludge and debris that would otherwise cause damage over time.

How often should I get a power flush?

Most central heating systems benefit from a power flush every 5-6 years, or when you notice symptoms like cold radiators, noisy boilers, or poor heating performance. You should also get a power flush before installing a new boiler to protect your investment, and after any major heating system work. Regular power flushing prevents sludge buildup and extends the life of your entire heating system.
