If your central heating isn’t performing the way it should, there’s a good chance the answer isn’t a new boiler. Stockport has a high proportion of homes built in the 1960s, 70s and 80s — and those older systems have typically never had a professional clean. After 20 or 30 years, the sludge, rust and limescale building up inside your pipework and radiators are quietly costing you money every day.
A powerflush clears it out completely. Pro Powerflushing has been doing exactly that for Stockport homeowners since 1999. We’re Gas Safe registered (No. 555837), Kamco-trained, and we have 174 five-star Google reviews — most of them from people in postcodes just like yours who were at their wits’ end with a heating system that wasn’t working properly.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY in Stockport
Is Your Stockport Home Due a Powerflush?
These are the signs we hear about most often from Stockport customers:
- Radiators are cold in places – sludge has settled and is blocking water flow
- Some rooms are always colder than others – the system isn’t circulating evenly
- Boiler making banging, kettling or gurgling sounds – sludge and scale around the heat exchanger
- Hot water arriving slowly – system working harder than it needs to
- Boiler firing up and cutting out repeatedly – a sign the heat exchanger is partially blocked
- Murky water when you bleed a radiator – visible evidence of contamination
- Heating bills are creeping up year on year – reduced efficiency costs real money (well, the UK Gov and Net ZERO don’t help either!)
Any one of these symptoms on its own is worth investigating. More than one and a powerflush of your central heating system is almost certainly what you need.
How We Powerflush Your Stockport Heating System
We connect our Kamco powerflush unit to your system, which pumps water and professional-grade chemicals to dislodge and flush out years of accumulated sludge and debris. Every radiator, every section of pipework, the pump and the boiler heat exchanger are all cleaned in a single visit.
The process takes four to six hours for most Stockport homes. We finish by adding a corrosion inhibitor to protect the clean system, and we’ll discuss whether fitting a magnetic filter would help keep it clean longer — they’re one of the best-value things you can add to an older system.
We work to BS7593 — the British Standard that your boiler manufacturer specifies for system water treatment. This matters if your boiler is still under warranty, and it’s simply the right way to do the job.

Power Flushing FAQs
How much does a power flush cost?
This all depends on the size of your system i.e. number of radiators. To give you a good price it’s best to have a chat with us as we need to ask questions to get you a clear definitive answer.
My Stockport house was built in the 1990s — will it have microbore pipes?
Quite possibly, yes. A lot of Stockport housing from that era used 8mm and 10mm microbore pipework. If you see the pipes coming from your radiator and they are the width of, say, a pencil or a pen then yes that’s microbore pipes.
They could be PVC or copper. Also, Also some plumbers years ago, if they were extending the system, may have used microbore to connect to the existing system.
It’s not always obvious without looking. We can advise you when we assess the system. Either way, we can powerflush it.
We've got a new boiler installed recently. Do we still need a powerflush?
If the existing system wasn’t flushed before the new boiler went in, yes — the sludge from the old system is now circulating through your brand-new boiler and will reduce its lifespan significantly. Most boiler manufacturers specify a system flush as a warranty condition.
Are you Gas Safe Registered?
Yes We are fully trained qualified and certified and insured to work on gas appliances, our gas-safe number is 555837

How long does a powerflush take in Stockport?
Typically, four to six hours for a standard three or four-bedroom house. We’ll give you an honest estimate when you book based on your system and the number of radiators.
If you are a landlord or need to be away from the property, we can just get on with the job providing we have clear access and send you video updates if required during the day.
We always do a quick video review at the end of the day for clients if they are not available to be at the property.
Can you fit a magnetic filter at the same time?
Yes. We recommend fitting a Magnaclean or similar magnetic filter after a powerflush to keep the system clean going forward. It’s straightforward to add on the same visit.
How often does a central heating system need powerflushing?
A well-maintained system with a corrosion inhibitor and a magnetic filter can go 10 to 15 years between flushes. A system that’s never been treated may need attention sooner.
Think of it like your car engine, if not regularly serviced as per manufacturers reccomendations, then issues with the engine can happen.
