Cheshire is one of our most active service areas, and it’s easy to see why. The county has a huge variety of housing — from large detached homes in the Alderley Edge and Wilmslow corridor to Victorian terraces in Chester, 1960s estates in Ellesmere Port, and everything in between. What they all have in common is central heating systems that, over time, fill up with sludge, rust and scale — and stop working as efficiently as they should.
Pro Powerflushing has been serving Cheshire homeowners since 1999. We’re Gas Safe registered (No. 555837), trained and certified by Kamco, and trusted by more than 174 Cheshire and North West customers who’ve given us five-star Google reviews.
We cover the full width of Cheshire — from Chester in the west to Macclesfield and Congleton in the east, and from Warrington and Altrincham in the north down to Nantwich and Crewe in the south.

COLD LUKE WARM RADIATORS
are one of the symptoms that you have a problem with your central heating system and a professional powerflush off your central heating system will solve this problem. We use the latest Kamco professional equipment and fully trained.

SLOW HEATING RESPONSE
is one of the symptoms you need a powerflush on your central heating system, this is usually spotted when radiators take a long period if time to heat up or you dont get the heat out of them required, call us for free advice.

PUMP NOISES
If you are hearing strange noises coming from your central heating pump, surges grating then this is a clear sign that your pump is struggling and becoming blocked with sludge then a powerflush is wise and can save the cost of replacing the pump.

BOILER NOISES
One of the signs that sludge and debris is building up is weird noises coming from the boiler, bangs and sudden surges can be heard if so then an inspection and powerflush of the system will solve this and be cheaper than a new boiler!

POOR HOT WATER
If you are finding that when you turn the tap on fully it’s running cold for a long period of time or goes cold when fully open then a powerflush is of benefit as this is a sign that the boiler is having a problem creating hot water.

POOR CIRCULATION
Another common problem is the central heating system pipes get clogged up with sludge and debris.Below is a more detailed diagram showing symptons which indicate a central heating system that can benefit from a power flush, were all for educating our clients so they know what they should look for.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY
Does Your Cheshire Home Need a Powerflush?
Sludge and corrosion build up gradually — often over many years — before they cause noticeable symptoms. By the time most Cheshire homeowners call us, the system has been less than fully efficient for a long time. Watch out for:
- Radiators that are cold at the bottom or in the middle – sludge settling and blocking the lower sections
- Rooms that are always harder to heat than others – uneven circulation across the system
- Boiler kettling, banging or gurgling – debris and scale around the boiler’s heat exchanger
- Slow hot water – the system struggling to move water efficiently
- Boiler locking out or short-cycling – restricted flow causing the boiler to protect itself by switching off
- Murky or discoloured water when bleeding radiators – visible evidence of heavy contamination
- Heating bills that seem high for the size of the property – an inefficient system uses more gas
A powerflush addresses all of these in a single visit. In many cases, Cheshire homeowners tell us it’s the single most effective improvement they’ve made to their heating system.
What a Cheshire Powerflush Involves
We connect our professional Kamco powerflush machine to your system and use high-velocity water flow combined with professional descaling and cleaning chemicals to systematically flush out every radiator, section of pipework, pump and the boiler heat exchanger.
For larger Cheshire properties — four or five bedrooms with ten or more radiators — the process may take six to eight hours. A typical three-bedroom property takes four to six hours. We finish by dosing the system with a long-life corrosion inhibitor, and we’ll recommend a magnetic filter if the system doesn’t already have one.
We work to BS7593, the British Standard that specifies how central heating systems should be treated. If your boiler is still under warranty, this matters — most manufacturers require a BS7593-compliant flush before they’ll honour a warranty claim related to system contamination.

Cheshire’s Older Housing Stock and Sludge
One reason we’re kept busy across Cheshire is the high proportion of older housing. Cheshire has a large number of homes built between the 1950s and 1980s — particularly on the estates around Ellesmere Port, Northwich, Winsford and parts of Crewe — where the original heating systems have rarely, if ever, been professionally cleaned.
The more affluent parts of East Cheshire — Wilmslow, Alderley Edge, Prestbury, Altrincham — often have larger homes with more radiators and greater volumes of water in the system. More water means more opportunity for sludge to accumulate, and when it does, the problem is proportionally larger.
Cheshire also has many homes with microbore central heating — the narrow 8mm and 10mm copper pipework installed widely between the late 1980s and mid-1990s. Microbore blocks more easily than standard pipework and requires specialist equipment and technique to flush correctly. Most generalist engineers won’t take on a microbore powerflush. We specialise in it.

Power Flushing FAQs
Do you cover rural Cheshire locations?
Yes. We cover the full county, including villages and rural properties. Call us on 07836 353985, and we’ll confirm.
My Cheshire home is a large detached — will a powerflush take longer?
Yes, proportionally. A property with 12–15 radiators will take six to eight hours rather than four to five. We’ll factor this into the quote from the outset.
Are you Gas Safe Registered?
Yes We are fully trained qualified and certified and insured to work on gas appliances, our gas-safe number is 555837

Can you fit a magnetic filter at the same time?
Yes. We recommend fitting a Magnaclean or similar magnetic filter after a powerflush to keep the system clean going forward. It’s straightforward to add on the same visit.
How do I know if I have microbore pipes?
Microbore pipes are 8mm or 10mm in diameter — noticeably thinner than standard 15mm or 22mm copper pipe. Homes built between approximately 1985 and 2000 are most likely to have them. If you’re not sure, send us a photo of your pipework and we can tell you.
How much does a power flush cost?
This all depends on the size of your system, i.e., the number of radiators. To give you a good price, it’s best to have a chat with us as we need to ask questions to get you a clear, definitive answer.
The previous engineer said our system can't be powerflushed because of the pipe type. Is that true?
It depends on the system, but often the answer is no — it can be done, just not by every engineer. If you have microbore, that may be why the previous engineer declined. We specialise in microbore. Give us a call, and we’ll give you a straight answer.
Is a powerflush covered by home insurance?
Typically, no — it’s considered routine maintenance rather than an insurable event. However, some home cover policies include boiler or central heating cover as an add-on that may contribute to costs. Check your policy documents.
